ABOUT US -  Fresno-Greater San Joaquin Valley Junior Golf Foundation, a Charitable Non-profit Corporation

For many years, the Foundation conducted six-week clinics at area schools in neighborhoods with high poverty rates.  These clinics became highly popular, and we returned many times upon request of administrators, teachers and students.  Clinics consisted of actual play on a local golf course.  During the final clinic, or Play Day, each participant received a starter set of clubs, bag, golf balls, glove, towel, shoes, golf shirt, hat and a book containing golf rules and etiquette.  However, clinics required a great deal of time on the part of the directors and volunteers because of transportation and expert instruction time.  Hence our goal to have a permanent Junior Golf Learning Center.

Local golf professionals from municipal, semi-private and private clubs as well as the community have been very generous with equipment donations. Through these donations, we have been able to accumulate golf equipment for our program as well as being able to supply equipment to local high school teams and other community-based organizations

We have received extraordinary support from our community, former Mayor Autry, the City Council as well as golf professionals, municipal, semi-private and private clubs, and businessmen in our area.   AT LAST our dreams became a reality.  Through the efforts of Fresno Mayor Alan Autry, the Parks & Recreation Department, City Council, community and the Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District, we have what we believe to be the “perfect” site for our learning center adjacent to a 23 1/2 acre flood basin (Basin FF) in an area where it is desperately needed – the West Side of Fresno at 1604 S. Teilman, Fresno, CA 93706.

Thanks to grants from the City of Fresno, USGA, NCGA, Fansler Foundation, and other donations of funds, services and equipment from individuals and organizations, our learning center is now a reality.  The 4,889-square-foot building consists of a warehouse with storage area and a meeting-classroom area that has video capabilities. The basin serves as a practice range.
